Following Nature’s Lead: My Spring Reset for a More Intentional Life
Nature always shows us how things are meant to be. It signals when things are out of balance and need to be realigned. Every year, as January rolls in, most people set resolutions and dive into new routines. But as I get older, I realize my body and mindset are more in sync with nature’s rhythms than with the calendar. Just as my houseplants go dormant in the winter, so do I.
At the start of the year, I felt the urge to be creative and productive—but instead of forcing it, I embraced rest. Creative rest. Physical rest. Mental rest. When new ideas popped into my head, I simply wrote them down, saving them for when the days stretched longer. Now, as spring approaches, I feel the natural pull to refresh, reset, and breathe new life into different areas of my life—mirroring the greenery returning to my home.
Areas of My Life Getting a Spring Reset
My Closet
To be honest, I actually started cleaning out my closet during my winter break from work. I knew it would take time because, well, I know myself—I tend to go back and forth on what to keep and what to let go of. My approach was simple: if I hadn’t worn it in the last few months or it didn’t fit, it had to go.
Over the past couple of years, I’ve gained a few pounds, yet I was still holding onto clothes with the mindset of “I’ll fit into this once I lose weight.” Instead of keeping those pieces as motivation (or punishment), I let them go to make space for a wardrobe that truly fits me—physically and stylistically. Moving forward, I want to invest in timeless pieces rather than trendy ones. As I approach my late thirties, I feel my style evolving—or maybe I’m just finally allowing it to.
My Health
Adjusting to a new routine after Daylight Savings has been rough, to say the least. But with longer days ahead, I’ve shifted my workouts to the evenings. This change allows me to fully engage in my workouts without feeling rushed in the mornings before work.
My goal is to work out at least four times a week, incorporating both strength training and cardio. While I’d love to lose a few pounds, my primary focus is overall health—especially as I inch further into my thirties. Feeling strong, energized, and well is the real goal.
My Finances
After a season of spending, saving and intentional spending have become top priorities. Not only does my bank account need a reset, but so does my mindset around money.
For me, intentional spending means being mindful of what I buy—whether it’s clothing, food, or anything else. It’s about pausing before impulse buying or ordering takeout when I know “we’ve got food at home.” My goal is to make financial choices that align with my long-term well-being, not just my short-term cravings.
Embracing the Season of Growth
As spring arrives, I’m reminded that every season has its purpose. Winter was for rest and reflection. Spring is for growth and renewal. Instead of forcing change when the timing isn’t right, I’m learning to move with the natural flow of things. And right now? It’s time to reset, refresh, and step into this new season with intention.
