Things to do at Home for Wellness

I can't stress self-care enough. It has taken me a long time to figure this out myself and it's something I still struggle with. I tend to focus on work so much that I stress about things that have not even happened and forget to turn that part of my mind off when I'm not working. Self-care is a self-initiated practice that requires intention. You must intend to take care of yourself. It should be a must for everyone.

I have not been one to overlook the joys of staying at home, doing what I want, eating what I want, and watching what I want. I've learned a few things about creating a home atmosphere that is conducive to self-care. So here's what I have come up with:

1. First things first, set the home vibe.

Set up your home with things you love. For me, this includes lighting candles, incense, or any other kind of dull lighting. I love my string lights and the vibes they give off. Whatever your thing is, just make sure you set the atmosphere with mood lighting and scents.

2. Treat yourself.

When I'm chilling on a weekend day/night, I like to order on Postmates and treat myself to an indulgent meal. Everyone deserves a cheat meal every once in awhile. I don't condone depriving yourself of junk food in order to be healthy. One indulgent meal won't break a healthy lifestyle. However, I also like to switch up and cook myself a fancy meal with a well-made drink on a weekend night. Something about cooking when I'm not in rush to eat because I have to be in bed by a certain time to wake up in the morning is so relaxing to me. I love turning on my music to sing and dance while I'm in the kitchen cooking.

3. Binge on your favorite shows/movies

Weekends are always my time to catch up on shows that I miss during the week. Trash tv and Youtube videos are my guilty pleasures. They tell us too much television is a bad thing, but when you want something to take you away from reality for a day, it can be a good thing.

4. Work on a hobby

You know that project you've been putting off? Do it! I've definitely learned that finding my creative outlets helps me to relieve stress effectively. I love to work on my blog, start or finish a DIY project, or do some crafting. Exploring your creativity is one of the best ways to practice self-care in my opinion.

5. Spa day

Lastly, pampering yourself at home is pretty fun and is the physical epitome of self-care. Although it's not the same as getting pampered at a regular spa, I've enjoyed pampering myself at home and it has great benefits. This may include giving myself a facial and taking a candlelit bubble bath. Exfoliate, scrub, moisturize, repeat.
