48 Hours in San Diego
San Diego is a great destination for a quick summer getaway. The beaches, the weather, and the vast list of things-to-do make it a popular destination for Californians and other tourist alike. Being 2 hours away from L.A., I feel that San Diego is the perfect place for a weekend getaway. Here is what my weekend consisted of:
Where I Stayed
I love AirBnB’s because it makes you feel like a local wherever you visit. The AirBnB I stayed in was located in the Golden Hill area. I loved it because the apartment was situated in the rear of the building and the exterior was surrounded by plants.
Nothing too fancy, but it had just the right amount of chill and simplicity we needed for the weekend. The hosts gave awesome instructions and the place was very clean on our arrival. The near downtown location was also a plus, and is centrally located so that getting around San Diego was easy.
Friday: Coffee Shops and Rooftops
I was ecstatic that the AirBnB was located across the street from a local coffee shop, Influx. The coffee was great, the atmosphere friendly, and also…..plants. A win win.
I did mid-day drinks at the Rooftop by STK in the Andaz located in the gaslamp district. The place had great view of the city and good drinks. I came right before happy hour because I was doing dinner later that evening and just needed a little mid-day pick-me-up.
Later that evening came “dinner” at Donovan’s Steak and Chop House in La Jolla. It was really just appetizers and small plates on the happy hour menu, but it was enough to suffice for the night. The place had great views on the patio making it a pretty romantic spot.
Saturday: Tacos and Park Chillin’
I had lunch at ¡Salud! for tacos, mulitas, and nachos. Located in Barrio Logan, ¡Salud! gave me classic California vibes.
I ended the day at Balboa Park. It’s a great place to walk and chill with museums, botanical gardens, and even the zoo. Be sure to visit check visiting hours for all the attractions. I was highly upset that I got to the botanical garden after closing.
