Interior Tip: Cool Down your Bedroom for Summer

It’s a hot one. Summer has finally made itself known. In these summer months, we tend to gravitate towards changing our textiles and decor to match the temperature outside. I personally go with whatever colors I’m attracted to at the moment, but there is something to be said when you are intentional with choosing colors for different seasons.

I was changing my bed linen this past weekend and realized that my burnt orange cushion covers were making my bedroom’s mood a little too warm. I went into my linen closet and got out my dark green cushion covers and I felt the room instantly became cooler. Maybe I’m exaggerating but it’s definitely a psychological trick. Although I love that orange color, the green absolutely made the mood of the room a little chill.

Instead of warm colors that absorb sunlight like reds, yellows, and oranges opt for cooler colors that repel sunlight such as greens, blues, and purples. If warm colors are your thing, just think about the textile fabric. Using more lightweight fabrics is more practical in the summer. You can also go with the pastel versions of warm colors.
